Devizes Town Council is urging people to turn out and cheer on cyclists when the Tour of Britain comes to their town.
It is on a section of the race going from Bath to Hemel Hempstead on September 12 and cyclists are due to hit Devizes at about 11am.
Riders will first go through Bradford on Avon, then Trowbridge and Seend before heading up the A361 Caen Hill and into Devizes along Bath Road, New Park Street, Gains Lane, Nursteed Road and on to the A342 past Chirton before taking the A345 into Pewsey.
Devizes deputy town clerk Simon Fisher said: “We have written to all the schools, urging them to let children come out and watch. We will write to businesses asking if they can allow staff to watch it and to dress windows.
“A lot of schools are starting to respond and we are keen that, when the Tour comes, that the riders have a fantastic reception.”
The Tour of Britain brings top cyclists and was won last year by Sir Bradley Wiggins.
