Drugs in pants man fails to turn up to court
A Londoner caught with heroin between his buttocks in Chippenham has failed to turn up for sentencing.
And Daniel Perkins, 31, who has been warned he faces jail, could not get any friends or family to loan him the cash to get to court as they thought they might not get their money back.
Perkins, from Erith, in east London, was due to face sentence at Swindon Crown Court on Friday having admitted possession with intent to supply.
He had five wraps of the drug stored in his underwear when he was arrested at an address in Queens Crescent, Chippenham, on April 18, 2012.
Robin Shellard, defending, said: "He said friends and family, because of the likely disposal in this case, won't give him any money as they don't think they will get it back."
The wraps, weighing just under three quarters of a gram, were between his buttocks.
And text messages recovered from his phone showed he had been dealing for the three months leading up to his arrest, an earlier hearing was told.
Judge Douglas Field, having been told he gets his benefits on Thursday, adjourned the case to Friday, August 1, and extended his bail until then.
