This Is Wiltshire: New van will help hungry with special delivery New van will help hungry with special delivery

SWINDON Foodbank is the proud owner of a new delivery van after receiving a grant from an accountancy firm and a local Peugeot dealership which helped make it a reality.

The Peugeot team from Fish Bros, on Great Western Way, supplied the foodbank with a Partner van, which is known for its flexibility and ability to carry 850kg loads.

Seeded by the Trussell Trust, Britain’s biggest foodbank network, and run by a local Christian charity (SCCP), Swindon Foodbank aims to help the one in six adults living close to the edge of their finances in the local area.

Simon Bradbury, sales manager at Fish Bros, said: “As a company, we like to work with local causes and provide great deals. We provided their previous van so when Swindon Food Bank approached us again with a tight budget for a new van, we really wanted to help.

“The Partner is the perfect choice for the staff at Swindon Foodbank – big enough to make multiple deliveries on one journey, but compact enough to make parking easy with the added advantage of a side door, something their old van didn’t have.”

Andrew Hill, interim project manager at Swindon Foodbank, said: “Recent figures from the Trussell Trust show that demand for foodbanks like ours has increased by more than 300 per cent in the past year across the UK.

“We’d like to thank the team at Fish Bros for making a new van reality.
