A MAN who was involved in a violent raid at a house in West Swindon has been remanded in custody by a judge.

Carl Thomas, 33, pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated burglary at Swindon Crown Court. He was involved in the raid with intent to commit grievous bodily harm on the occupant and steal money while armed with a metal pole.

Thomas admitted entering the premises on Chandos Close, Grange Park, on Saturday June 21.

But he was told he may not face sentence until next year because a second man, John Hunter, has yet to enter a plea to the allegation.

The 47-year-old, of Park Lane, is due to enter his plea in October and should he have a trial it will take place the following month.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned Thomas’ case saying: “I can’t sentence you today. You have got to wait for Hunter to be tried.

“He is being tried in November so it could be the New Year when you are sentenced or it could be December.”
