SHRIVENHAM player-manager Sam Collier will discover on Friday if his season is over before a ball is even kicked.

The Barrington Park chief will see a specialist to get the full prognosis following knee surgery to remove a pin and some cartilage in the summer.

And while Collier admits that it is touch and go whether he will be able to play this season, he has not given up hope of playing.

“To be honest I haven’t done much - I have managed a bit of jogging in straight lines,” Collier told the Advertiser.

“But I’m no further along. I should find out more when I see the specialist on Friday - hopefully he will give me the green light to crack on.

“There is a bit of movement there as I have started jogging - I just want to get fit.

“I would be absolutely distraught if I was told that my season is over. All I can do is wait and see what he says and go from there.”
