STEPHANIE Millward could barely contain her excitement after bagging her second gold medal of the IPC European Championships in Eindhoven today.

Millward, who clinched the S9 400m freestyle title on Monday, landed her second victory on Wednesday as she soared home in the S9 100m freestyle.

Millward again led home compatriot Amy Marren, as she had in the 400m free. Marren took the race out from the start and turned in the lead but an excellent final 25m saw Millward overtake and claim the gold in 1:04.08 with Marren claiming silver in 1:04.22.

“I am absolutely over excited right now,” Millward said. “It’s so good. I didn’t really expect to win that one but I am so impressed that I did.

"The time wasn’t great but you know you can’t have everything and the gold medal is perfect.”

Five-time London 2012 Paralympic medallist Millward, 32, had clocked 4:41.99 to win the S9 400m freestyle earlier in the week, ahead of Marren (4:47.66) and Spain's Nuria Marques Soto (5:01.95).

Trowbridge swimmer Aaron Moores added a second bronze medal on Wednesday, clocking 1:09.65 in the SB14 100m breaststroke, having recorded 1:03.50 in the SB14 100m backstroke, on both occasions behind Dutch swimmer Marc Evers.
