DEREK Graham reckons that a mid-table finish would represent great progress for his Warminster Town side in the upcoming season.

The Weymouth Street outfit were 17th in the Toolstation League First Division last term and joint-bosses Graham and Andy Crabtree remain in the saddle for their first full campaign since returning to the club last November.

The Warminster management duo have brought about a host of reunions, with midfielders Tom Welch and Beau Blakeman returning to the club fresh from winning the league at Bradford Town.

Defenders Simon Reaney and Sam Worsfold are also back at Weymouth Street whilst goalkeeper Callum Hotine and midfielder George Butler have also been promoted from the club’s U18 side.

“If you want to win our league, you have to spend a few bob to get some top quality players in. We definitely have a few in our side but we don’t have a budget, so we can’t go out there spending money,” said Graham.

“As far as I know, Warminster have never been in the Premier Division so if that was something that we could achieve in the next two or three years, that would be fantastic.

“If you were to work out the ratio from when we took over last season and we did that for the whole season, we probably would have finished about mid-table.

“I think that’s where we’ll be aiming this season and if we could do that, we’d be pretty happy with that.

“We’ve had some good performances in pre-season and the lads have worked to a system that we’ve been trying to play in some of the games, so that’s a positive.”
