Pupils were celebrating at St Augustine’s Catholic College in Trowbridge today, where 41 per cent of grades were at A* or A and 73 per cent at grade B or above.
Headteacher Joe Alsop said: “I am absolutely delighted with the A-level examination results, but in no way surprised that they were so good because the students worked incredibly hard for two years to achieve them.
“With 41 per cent of grades at A*/A and 73 per cent at grade B or above, these results stand out as one of our highest achieving years with the majority of students accessing their first choice university places.
“These results and the education that they have received at St Augustine’s has created a strong foundation from which they can continue to grow and flourish in whichever career path they choose to take. I wish them every success in the future.”
Among those celebrating was Luke Tyler, 18, who gained three A*s in chemistry, biology and maths. He is taking a gap year next year, which will include a trip to Tanzania, before applying for to study medicine.
He said: “I’m delighted and I couldn’t have asked for any better.
"I didn’t get a place studying medicine when I applied as I was predicted one A* and two As, but hopefully I will be more successful now.”
