RACING: Toormore aimed at Turkey

LAST season's champion juvenile Toormore, who is trained in Wiltshire, will have his next race in the International Topkapi Trophy in Istanbul on September 7.

Connections feel the step back up to a mile will suit the son of Arakan after he narrowly failed to catch Es Que Love in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

While the colt, trained by Everleigh and Herridge handler Richard Hannon has perhaps not lived up to expectations so far this year, his last run did at least show he was heading in the right direction.

"The plan is to run Toormore in the Topkapi Trophy in Turkey," said Tim Palin, racing manager of the owners, Middleham Park Racing.

"We've had a look at the initial entries and we just feel it could be the right race for him.

"If anything happens in the interim then we can always go for the Boomerang Stakes at Leopardstown (September 13) on Irish Champions Weekend.

"It's back to a mile, which is a big thing, and going round a bend,. The ground is usually good and horses seem to win from anywhere there.

"The prize money is fantastic, which is another draw. It is £250,000 to the winner and good money all the way down."
