A pop-up bookshop is proving popular in Urchfont.
The novel idea came about after plans for a book stall at a summer fair resulted in nearly 50 boxes of books being donated.
The sheer volume meant there needed to be something more than a stall so, thanks to villager Jean Harris donating a garage, previously used by the newsagent, the bookshop was born.
It is full of hundreds of books covering all genres. There are also some CDs, DVDs and LPs.
Co-organiser Pat Cridland said: “We are a bit overwhelmed at the donation of books. We are charging 50p for paperbacks, £1 for hardbacks and we have got a few we will individually price. We are hoping the shop will be here for a few months. It would be good to think that it is still around for the scarecrow festival. Money raised is going to the village hall refurbishment.”
The shop is near the pond in High Street and, depending on volunteers, is open on Tuesdays from 10am-1pm, Thursdays 2pm-4pm and Saturdays 10am-3pm.
