New stands in Chippenham for cyclists

This Is Wiltshire: Dr Nick Murry Dr Nick Murry

CYCLISTS in Chippenham can now leave their bikes locked in a new cycle parking area.

Five cycle stands have been put up in the Market Place after Chippenham town councillor Dr Nick Murry highlighted a lack of dedicated space for securing bikes in the town.

He said: “For people who don’t live far from the town centre, cycling really is quicker and more convenient than driving into town.”

Wiltshire Council provided the stands through the Connecting Wiltshire initiative and the town council funded the installation.

That's lovely. All we need now is a cohesive cycle system so I can ride into town with my kids without fighting with huge gaps in the cycle lanes on very busy roads, bad parking, bad driving and terrible road surfaces.
