The ninth Emergency Services Show takes place on Sunday and the organisers say it promises to be the biggest and best yet.

As well as bringing together Wiltshire's 'blue light' services, the show raises thousands of pounds for charities that support the work of the emergency services.

Following last year’s show, £26,000 was donated to a total of 26 good causes.

The show is being held at its usual site - Hullavington airfield, just off J17 of the M4 near Chippenham - and it will be open between 10am and 4pm.

Amongst the demonstrations planned for Sunday are:

• Wiltshire Police's dog section - both searching for drugs and tackling armed criminals

• Cricklade fire cadets showing off their firefighting skills

• A multi-agency road traffic collision simulation

There will also be:

• A parachute display by Jump4Heroes (weather permitting)

• The attendance of both Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance

• A wide range of new and vintage emergency vehicles

• Fire engine and police car rides – and the chance to see the Showground from above, thanks to helicopter rides (weather permitting)

• The chance to try your driving skills with Go Motorsport

• A fairground, archery and more.

Visitors will be able to meet firefighters, police officers, the police and crime commissioner and paramedics, to find out more about the work of the emergency services in Wiltshire and beyond.

Many of the charities that work alongside the emergency services will also be there.

The Emergency Services Show is organised by a committee of volunteers drawn from Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and the Highways Agency, and it is supported this year by Vodafone and the Grist Group of Companies.

Committee chairman Chris Harvey said: "We can promise the whole family a great day out.

"Children will love the police car and fire engine rides, there's also a funfair, and we have plenty of exhibits, displays and traders coming along.

"This is a unique opportunity to meet your emergency services in a non-emergency setting - so we look forward to seeing you."

Tickets for the show can be bought on the day and cost £6 for adults, £3 for children under 16 and free for children under three.

Visitors are reminded that transactions at the show are cash-only and there is no cash machine on site.
