This Is Wiltshire: Chippenham's blue bridge open after works Chippenham's blue bridge open after works

The blue bridge between Baydon’s Wood and Monkton Park in Chippenham reopened last week.

The well-used footbridge has been closed for maintenance since July 7 and was scheduled to reopen by July 28. The work was finished last Thursday, three weeks later than expected.

A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: “We apologise that the work on this bridge has been delayed. This was due to a slight delay in getting the materials to finish the maintenance.”

What a crap excuse from the council. Their work men worked only a few hours a day on the bridge so were massively behind any way. Also as the council had the materials back in June why didnt someone realise they didnt have enough then. Could it be yet again someone else at the counicl cant do their job properly and measure the span of the bridge so then order enough materials. And finally how kind it was for the council to put up a polite notice informing the public of this, I bet if it was on their commute things would have been done differently!

When ever we went that way the council workmen were stood looking into the river...obviously that was more important than finishing the bridge...
