The customers of St Arbucks community café in Market Lavington have donated £200 to the Lavingtons Youth Club.

The club, based at the George Baker Centre, runs youth meetings for children and young people around Market and West Lavington.

St Arbucks is a ‘not for profit’ organisation, which raises funds for local causes. Café chairman Les Charlton presented the cheque to the youth club.

He said: “The ability for young people to get together and have constructive fun in a safe, supervised environment is an invaluable local facility. St Arbucks customers have generously donated to support this cause, during the first year of St Arbucks being open.

“We are inviting customers to suggest a local cause for us to raise money for for the next year. If anyone has suggestions please call in to St Arbucks to let Beth Warren (café manager) know.”

Café volunteer the Rev Gary Gotham said: “It’s hugely satisfying to see the community enjoying the cafe and making such a useful donation to community facilities.

“I get a lot of enjoyment from volunteering in the café, and chatting with such interesting people. St Arbucks is keen to train up some more volunteers, and I recommend it to anyone who can find a few hours.”

Youth club treasurer Lyn Dyson said:”We are delighted to receive this generous donation which will be put to immediate use providing youth club facilities locally.”
