Tropical creatures including snakes, spiders and scorpions kept customers at The Farmhouse in Southwick entertained when the pub hosted a Tropical Discovery Workshop.

The workshops, which are run by head ranger Kris Freeman, provide an interactive and educational opportunity to learn about different types of wildlife and their environments from around the world.

Children and parents at the pub were introduced to a variety of creatures, including a tarantula, snakes, a bearded dragon, giant stick insects and a scorpion.

Among those who overcame their fears was Phil Cooke, pictured, who was convinced by his daughter to help her hold a python, despite being scared of the creatures.

Mr Freeman said: “It was a great event and everyone was saying how much they enjoyed it afterwards.

“I try to encourage the children to ask questions and I also ask them questions to get them thinking more about the amazing things they can do, rather than being scared of them.”
