Patients saved by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance are to talk about their experiences in a series of moving films.

Their stories will be released each day on Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s (WAA) website during National Air Ambulance Week, which starts tomorrow, at www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk

It is the first time WAA has arranged video interviews with patients and the filming was done by videographer Nick Ruddle, of Swindon, for free.

Air ambulance week aims to raise awareness and funds for air ambulance charities and the theme of the week for Wiltshire is heroes. Schools, businesses and individuals across the county are holding events to raise funds for WAA.

The charity will take delivery of a new helicopter in December 2014 when its current partnership with Wiltshire Police ends.

It will cost £2.5 million a year to keep the air ambulance flying – £6,850 a day – the same amount the charity is hoping to raise each day during air ambulance week.

Ana Exton, communications and digital media co-ordinator at WAA, said: “Our patients are our true heroes. That is why we are releasing a video a day of their very special and individual stories.

"They have been on an incredible journey and are really keen to help the charity raise awareness about the fantastic work of the air ambulance.”

Links to the patient stories will be posted on WAA’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages.

If you have been airlifted and would like to get involved by telling your story and helping WAA or you have creative skills you would like to donate to WAA contact Ana Exton on (01380) 739453.
