Trowbridge Sainsbury’s branch launched its local charity of the year partnership with CLIC Sargent on Saturday to coincide with Childhood Cancer Aware-ness Month.

The store, which is in British Row, has already received £1,000 in donations towards the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people from customers since the beginning of August.

However, it officially launched the partnership to coincide with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, with fundraising manager for CLIC Sargent Ben Herbert visiting the store.

Mr Herbert said: “We are delighted that Sainsbury’s in Trowbridge have chosen to support children and young people with cancer, and their families in Wiltshire.

“The money raised over the course of the partnership will make a real difference to our work to reduce the effect of childhood cancer.

“Launching the partnership during Childhood Cancer Awareness month will hopefully encourage more people to support CLIC Sargent.”

Last year, CLIC Sargent supported 71 Wiltshire families, with one in ten coming from Trowbridge.

According to a recent study by the charity, a third of the public underestimates the devastating impact of childhood cancer.
