Sci-Fi star Chris Barrie and the son of Thunderbird legend Gerry Anderson will be among the attractions at Chippenham’s first sci-fi day next month.

More than 1,000 are expected at the charity fun day at the Neeld Hall on October 25. It will feature Mr Anderson’s son Jamie bringing a selection of Thunder-bird figures and discussing the life of the classic series.

Other guests include Mr Barrie who played Rimmer in Red Dwarf; Pam Rose, an alien in Star Wars: A New Hope; Virginia Hey, Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan in Farscape; and Ken Coombs from Star Wars, James Bond and Indiana Jones.

The streets of Chippenham will also be filled with 30 costumed characters including a Stormtrooper, Darth Mole and Dalek, Elsa from Frozen, Doctor Who and Batman.

The event is being organised by Anthony Milner, who runs AKM Photography in Bath, and Chippenham town councillor Martin Coates.

Mr Milner said: “It’s doing even better than we expected; we have sold over 150 tickets so far. Some fans are coming from as far as Birmingham, Carmarthen and Ports-mouth.

“There are ten celebrities coming down from all different genres of sci-fi. The whole town is going to be sci-fied. It’s going to be a great family day and there will be a visual wow factor as well.”

The event will support four charities, Doorway, Dorothy House Hospice Care, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Stroke Association.

Also confirmed to appear are Jon Davey, who has performed as many monsters in more than 25 episodes of Doctor Who, and Nick Joseph, who was the first medal bearer in Star Wars: A New Hope; Brian Wheeler from Star Wars and Harry Potter; Richard James from Space Precinct and Simon Fisher-Becker, who was Dorium Maldovar in series five and six of Doctor Who.

He will be performing his one-man show My Dalek Has A Puncture at the Neeld Hall on the evening of the event.

Chippenham Sci-fi will run from 10.30am to 4pm.

Tickets are £4 for adults, £3 for aged 16 and under or £13 for a family. They are available at the Facebook page,chippenhamscifi.co.uk or the visitor and information centre on (01249) 665970.
