An antiques shop near Chippenham stars in TV show Antiques Road Trip this afternoon.
Kington Antiques & Interiors in Kington Langley are expecting a surge in footfall after the screening of the BBC series, which attracts audiences of up to 2.9 million viewers.
With a starting budget of only £200 each, antique hunters Margie Cooper and Paul Laidlaw take a picturesque journey through the English and Welsh countryside, visiting antiques shops and areas of interest.
Richard Stallard, who has owned Kington for 18 months, said: “They’re a good crew. You’re not allowed to speak to the people coming in until you get on the camera so it’s all off the cuff. They tell you not to look at the camera, it can be quite hard.
“It took two to three hours to film a couple of minutes.”
The shop also received a visit from England rugby star Phil Vickery when they starred in the celebrity version of the show, aired on September 20.
“He was great fun,” said Mr Stallard. “Very down to earth, a big powerful chap.”
Since then the footfall in the shop had increased significantly.
“The shop is full of intrigue,” he said. “Watching us on TV was more nerve-racking than actually filming it, as you know all your friends and family are watching, but it’s been great for the village.
“The only downside is that with the delay since filming in the summer, all the stock has changed.”
Antiques Road Trip goes out on BBC One at 4.30pm today and will be available to watch on iPlayer for a week.
