Results of a vote for the best local independent shop in the Devizes constituency, organised by MP Claire Perry, have been announced.

Thousands of votes were cast in her Best Independent Shop Competition in the Devizes constituency.

The four winners are: Devizes Books, Sidmouth Street, Devizes (Devizes category); The Cat’s Whiskers, Kingsbury Street, Marlborough (Marlborough); Trotters Equine and Country Stores, Station Road, Tidworth (Tidworth); and Upavon Village Store (Best Small Town or Village).

Mrs Perry will drop into each shop to present the awards to each category winner and to present £100 vouchers to the four lucky people who were drawn at random from those who nominated the winning shops.

The owners of the winning shops will also be joining Claire Perry MP and Brandon Lewis MP, Minister for Housing and Planning, at a business dinner in Devizes on Friday, October 17, when the overall champion will be announced.

Mrs Perry said: "Supporting our high streets is one of my five local priorities and I think that we have many fantastic local independent shops.

"I am delighted that so many people feel so too, and I am only sorry that there couldn’t be more winners!

"My warmest congratulations go to the four category winners and I am looking forward to announcing the overall champion."
