Two Southwick assault course enthusiasts are hoping to break a personal record this weekend by completing two Tough Mudder events each in aid of Trowbridge schoolboy Ashley Gover.
Mike Elliot, of Southfield, and Rich Jones, of Chantry Gardens, are aiming to raise £2,000 to fund research into Lebers Optic Neuropathy disease – an illness which is threatening the sight of 12-year-old Ashley.
The men, both aged 31, learned of Ashley’s condition through a mutual friend and decided to take on two Tough Mudder challenges back to back on Saturday at a course in Winchester.
Mr Jones said: “Tough Mudder events are seen as pretty hardcore and so I thought, ‘Why not take it one step further and complete more than one.’”
Tough Mudder races consist of a 10 to 12-mile military-style obstacle course in which runners test their endurance.
