Vandals lashed out at a decoy police car which was in Biddestone to deter speeding motorists.
The marked car had been put in a 20mph zone at the request of residents, who were fed up of people speeding in their village.
It had been there for about a week when hooligans ripped off the number plates and slashed the tyres overnight on Sunday.
The car has now been repaired, at a cost of £150 to taxpayers.
Because the number plates have not been recovered, police are investigating the matter as a theft. They are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
