NURSES are being sought to fill 20 positions at Great Western Hospital’s children’s departments.

Following a £250,000 investment in children’s services, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, wants to recruit staff for its children’s unit and newly refurbished paediatric emergency department.

A recruitment day is taking place at the hospital between 10am and 2pm on Saturday, November 8.

It is open to any registered paediatric nurses.

Adam Kirton, the Trust’s head of recruitment and resourcing, said: “This recruitment day is a fantastic opportunity for any registered nurse looking to broaden their horizons and take on a new challenge.

“As one of the top three trusts to work for in the south west, we are able to provide all our staff with excellent opportunities to develop their skills in the care of children across a variety of areas.

“This means you will have the opportunity to spend your working hours rotating between the children’s unit, the paediatric assessment unit and the paediatric emergency department.

“We are committed to providing the young people of Swindon and Wiltshire with the best care and facilities possible, which is why we have invested a quarter of a million pounds into our children’s services.”

The new recruits will join the hospital’s team of 30 paediatric nurses who provide care at GWH.

Sister Helen Carpenter said: “It will be great to welcome some new recruits to join our team.

“This is a very exciting time for us. On the recruitment day, we’ll show them around and tell them about the dynamic opportunity we have available.

“The nurses will have a chance to rotate between our children’s services which I think offers great variety.”

The Paediatric Emergency Department at GWH opened in June following a £1.2m redevelopment, which saw the creation of a separate waiting area and five private treatment cubicles.
