ANOTHER busy couple of weeks in the world of the Supporters’ Trust.

The board met for a special all-day session on Sunday, November 9, in which we looked at our future vision and how we will go about organising ourselves to help Swindon Town succeed and thrive in the future.

As you may have seen, we’ve already started taking steps in that we have secured a large amount of free tickets for schoolchildren via the football club, who have been incredibly supportive.

It’s going to be great to see lots of families watching Swindon Town together at the Fleetwood game, enjoying a great community experience, and perfect timing for us all - building on the outstanding result against Bristol City.

We’ll be sure to follow this up with more great offers to try and lock those new spectators in for the future, as we need the next generation of Swindon Town fans to come through.

We’ve also signed up over 30 primary schools (and rising) to become “School Partners”. This means thousands of kids and families will receive communications and offers via the Trust ‘Schools Working Party’, which consists of a variety of headteachers from around the borough.

The working party is co-ordinated by brand new TrustSTFC board member Simon Cowley, who incidentally is also chair of the Swindon Association of Primary Heads (SAPH).

This is great news as it means that kids will have the opportunity to learn about the theme of our Trust vision, which is the “Past, Present and Future of Swindon Town.”

As well as a new Trust schools website, there will be regular newsletters, learning material and access to specified Swindon Town matches, as well as Swindon Town players regularly visiting schools. The first player visit is already booked in, which you’ll hear more about soon.

The other benefit of having the schools on board is that we can speak to companies about our existing membership of over 1000 paid-for members, as well as many thousands of juniors that we reach out to via the schools.

Hopefully this will lead to increased opportunities for sponsorship for both the Trust family initiative, and the club itself.
