WARMINSTER Town joint-manager Derek Graham has his fingers crossed that his side have only momentarily misplaced their scoring boots after they drew blank twice this week.

Warminster had scored nine times in their previous two outings going in to Saturday’s first round Les Phillips Cup clash with Hengrove Athletic but were knocked out of the competition after suffering a 1-0 defeat at Weymouth Street.

Then on Wednesday, two late first half goals condemned Graham and Andy Crabtree’s men to a 2-0 league defeat at the hands of Radstock Town.

But the Warminster joint-chief is more than delighted with the progress his side are currently making.

“We’ve got these young players and sometimes it’s a good thing for them to have a blip, just to show them that they’ve got to carry on working hard,” said Graham.

“They’re learning all the time and I’m happy with how things are going at the moment. We’re building for next year and hopefully we can have a good run in the Wilts (Senior) Cup too.

“We were happy with how things were going against Radstock and would have been confident with it 0-0 at half-time but then they went and scored two goals in two minutes right at the end of the half.

“They were both from long throws and they were probably foul throws too but the referee was having none of it.”

Warminster travel to local rivals Corsham Town this weekend.
