Trowbridge children’s charity Stepping Stones is thanking members of the public, after being awarded £3,000 in the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014.

Lloyds asked for communities across the country to nominate groups.

Stepping Stones, which serves west Wiltshire children with learning difficulties and disabilities, was one of four causes nominated by the Trowbridge community for the award.

Following votes from members of the public, the centre was awarded the top grant available from Lloyds Bank.

Debbie Wickham, manager at Stepping Stones, said: “The fund will make a huge difference to Stepping Stones by enabling us to provide speech and language therapy.”

The charity lost £10,000 of funding from Wiltshire Council in February, after central government withdrew its Aiming High For Disabled Children grants.

This prompted the Wiltshire Times to launch the Give Us a Chance campaign to make up the shortfall. So far, £12,000 has been raised.
