PUPILS from Box Primary School helped police to monitor the speed of traffic coming through the village last week.

In previous years, instead of receiving a ticket, speeding drivers have been handed a picture of a road accident drawn by the school children as a way to shock them into slowing down.

This year, however, no drivers needed to be stopped as they were all following the 30mph speed limit.

PC Mandie Ball believes this is down to the success and prominence of the village’s very active Speedwatch team.

The Corsham neighbourhood policing team invites the pupils to come out every year as part of Road Safety Week and they joined PC Ball, PCSO Barry Mussard and PCSO Alan Byrne on the day.

The team from Corsham has also been promoting road safety by giving talks to the Brownies and Cubs from the village to raise awareness.
