THE monthly market in Malmesbury celebrated its first anniversary on Saturday in time-honoured tradition – with a birthday cake.
The Hub at the back of the town hall was full to capacity with 24 stallholders selling a variety of products.
The cake, baked by regular monthly market trader Belinda Garrett, was swiftly demolished by stallholders.
Councillor Julie Exton said: “Ever since we started last November there’s been a real buzz about the market.
“It’s not just about buying and selling, people enjoy the social side, meeting up and having a good old chat. It really is a community thing.”
Mother-of-three Mrs Exton said market days had become a regular town centre feature.
She said: “We’ve been really pleased with the way it’s gone and the way people are supporting it.”
The next Malmesbury Market at the Hub is on Saturday, December 13.
