FILM-MAKING enthusiasts in Swindon have a new opportunity to put their heads together and bring their ideas to the big screen with a new group.

Swindon Independent Film (SIF) was created in August after a message was sent out to film lovers by Oliver Woodward, looking for those interested in forming a group.

From those who replied, SIF was created and shooting soon began on a short film Oliver had created.

That film has now gone into post-production, and there are renewed calls from SIF co-ordinator Jake Blandford for more people to join.

While the Facebook group has attracted 60 members, there are between 15 and 25 who meet every other Wednesday at The Beehive in Prospect Hill, at 7.30pm.

Jake, 24, of Okeford Close in Nythe, said: “There’s not much outside London or Manchester. Those are the two big places for a career in this industry, if you want to go out and aim big.

“We just want to generate some interest in filming in Swindon.

“A lot have said if they had seen something like this when they were at college they would have jumped at the opportunity.”

Swindon Viewpoint’s Martin Parry has already agreed to get involved with SIF, with his priceless advice and equipment proving very useful, according to Jake.
