Young students at Lackham threw a welcome party to officially open their new Beech building facility.

Wiltshire College spent the summer upgrading facilities for young people with learning difficulties and special educational needs across their Lackham, Salisbury and Trowbridge campuses.

The investment followed a significant joint grant won by the college in partnership with Wiltshire Council from the Government’s Demog-raphic Growth Capital Fund.

And on Friday the foundation studies students and staff at Lackham showed off their new £502,000 facility.

Acting principal Amanda Burnside and chairman of governors Helen Birchen-ough were at the opening ceremony as Daniel Lambert, from Kington Langley, Charlotte Dawson, from Calne, and Fleur Dann, from Amesbury, cut the ribbon.

The building has doubled in size, with improved access and a several new sections.

Wiltshire College Lackham hosts an open event this Saturday, between 10am and noon.
