FAIRFORD Town are making major improvements to their Cinder Lane base after receiving a grant from Gloucestershire County Council.

The Hellenic League Division One West side, who travel to New College today, received money from the Active Together Fund and will install a new kitchen in the clubhouse, new showers and tiling in both dressing rooms and plan to replace all windows and doors in the changing rooms.

Club president Mike Tanner said: “It is nice to receive such support from the County Council Fund and once these works have been completed, it should totally transform the facility, which is starting to look a little tired in places.

“We have already started work on the new kitchen, demolishing the dividing wall and stripping out units.

“There is still plenty to do before the installation of a new kitchen in mid-February.

"Hopefully this new facility will be appreciated by all who use it and will certainly give the whole club a real lift."
