SWINDON Supermarine’s last hope of silverware this season was ended tonight as North Leigh claimed a 2-0 win in their Red Insure Cup quarter final at the Webbs Wood Stadium.

With the play-offs out of reach, Marine boss Dave Webb had targeted the league cup as an opportunity for some end of season cheer.

But Leigh booked their place in the semi finals as former Swindon Town player Andy Caton struck twice in the first half.

Wootton Bassett were beaten 3-1 at Ascot United in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Leon Yarnie, Rob Saunders and put Ascot in the ascendancy before Hugo Viveash struck a late consolation for the visitors.

New College got the better of Fairford in tonight’s Division One West derby at Cinder Lane.

Antonio Gerrish gave College the lead just before the quarter-hour mark and the advantage was doubled shortly after half time as Kai Robinson scored with a lob.

Alex Rudd headed home from a Ballard free-kick to halve the deficit but the home side then lost Ben Hillerby to a red card.

Gerrish wrapped up the points on 83 minutes ensuring that Rudd’s late penalty was merely a consolation
