WORLD Championship semi-finalist Dennis Smith will top the bill as a host of professional darts players travel to Swindon tomorrow.

They will be in action when the Abbey Meads pub holds its fifth open darts tournament, with the pros competing alongside local amateurs.

Smith, who reached the last four of the PDC World Championships in 2000, will take to the oche alongside fellow pros Mark Cox, Steve Willard and Lee Evans.

Karl Willcox, who runs the pub, will host the tournament which will be contested by both male and female players, with Wales Ladies team member Jan Robbins also set to appear.

“Once again we’ve attracted some superb players who will all be vying to win the £500 top prize,” said Willcox.

“Last year’s champion, Chris Aubrey, who turned pro not long after winning, will be back to defend his title.

“Everyone will be playing for the same prizes. This is the biggest independent darts tournament in Wiltshire. We get some big crowds down to watch the matches and it’s a terrific day.”
