PEOPLE in Swindon will have a chance to quiz general election candidates at two question time events organised by the Wyvern Theatre and the Adver.

There will be an event for the Swindon North and South constituencies on April 27 and 28, little more than a week before the election, and tickets are free.

Reserve a place online at swindontheatres.co.uk. Tickets are limited to four per person.

Readers can submit questions for the candidates on the night before the debates begin but to be in with a better chance of having a question answered they can submit them in advance to: questions@wyverntheatre.org.uk. Make sure emails state which constituency they are intended for.

Readers can also Tweet questions using the hashtag #adverelection.

On the nights each of the candidates will have two minutes to put their case for election before they face a series of readers' questions – plus some follow-ups from the audience.

Adver editor Gary Lawrence, who will chair both events, said: "This is a fantastic chance to see the candidates discussing issues that affect Swindon. None of them will be allowed to hide party rhetoric or tired old election cliches, this will be about the topics that matter to the people of Swindon and their responses could be key to how the election pans out for them.

"We are grateful to the Wyvern staff for all the work they are doing to put these events on. Tickets are already going quickly so we are expecting full houses on both nights. Anyone who would like to be there ought to get online and reserve their place quickly as we are expecting them to go pretty quickly.

"But you don't have to be thinking of coming to submit a question. I'm sure there are many things people would like to ask if they had a chance. We really want to bring the best out of all the candidates so I would urge people to send us their questions as soon as they can.

"I think both evenings are going to be really interesting."

For anyone unable to get tickets there will be a live blog and a full report in the following day's Adver.
