THREE special gardens are to be open this weekend under the National Gardens Scheme.
Among them is the garden of Oare House in Oare, near Pewsey, which has many rare and unusual plants. The grounds are split into compartments each with its own charm and also includes a traditional walled garden.
The Magnolia garden is wonderful in spring and there is large arboretum and woodland walks with many unusual and champion trees.
The garden will be open from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday. Entrance costs £5 with some of the money going to the Order of St John.
On the same day Iford Manor in Lower Westwood, Bradford on Avon, is to be open between 2pm and 5pm. The romantic Grade I listed Italianate garden famous for its tranquil beauty and is characterised by steps, terraces, sculpture and magnificent rural views. Cream teas and home made cakes will be available. Admission £5 for adults, £4.50 for children over tens and under tens free.
On Saturday Job's Mill at Ash Lane, Crockerton, near Warminster will be opened by Lady Silvy McQuiston from 2pm to 5pm. The gardens surround an old converted water mill and include a delightful terrace. Riverside and woodland walks, vegetable garden, orchard, herbaceous border and water garden.
