A SWINDON firm has been given a royal seal of approval in the form of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

BG Automotive (BGA), which is based on the Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, has been handed the award — which is regarded as the highest accolade for business in the UK — for its continued success.

The Queen’s Awards are made annually by HM The Queen and provide an opportunity to celebrate and encourage excellence in UK business.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the awards, with approximately 140 Queen’s Awards being announced for outstanding business achievement in the fields of International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development.

BG Automotive received the Queen’s Award for International Trade in recognition of the company’s exceptional export efforts, and for achieving increased year-on-year sales figures.

Managing director of BGA, Chris Cameron, said the company had shown it could deliver an excellent service throughout the six-year period it had been trading with oversees customers.

“We are tremendously proud of receiving this prestigious accolade,” he said.

“We have been extremely successful in championing our product overseas by attending various international trade shows and offering a comprehensive export service.

“In just six years, we have succeeded in building up a strong client base located in more than 40 countries around the world.

“I am extremely appreciative of all the efforts from our dedicated export sales team and supporting staff.”

Established in 2001, the company is a well-known manufacturer and supplier of automotive engine parts and components.

BGA employs more than 60 members of full-time staff at the company’s head office and warehouse in Swindon.

Adrian Bell, export manager for the firm, said: “We hope that these shows will contribute to the future success of our export business.

“We have worked tremendously hard to get us where we are today and I am flattered that BGA and its staff have been recognised for this prestigious award.”

As a winner of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, BGA can expect an invitation to attend a special reception at Buckingham Palace.

A crystal bowl will also be presented to symbolise the achievement, which will be presented at BGA’s head office by the Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire before the end of June.

Furthermore, the company will also be able to sport the Queen’s Award Emblem in advertising, marketing and on packaging for a period of five years as a symbol of the achievement.
