A REUNION of former pub workers raised more than £1,500 for charity.

The second annual Route 66 Reunion took place on Saturday, April 25, at the Lava Lounge in Swindon, raising money for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.

More than 150 tickets were sold to the event, which featured music from original DJs, Mad Mario and Darren Westlake, with all proceeds going towards the charity, which supports families caring for a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.

Route 66 was a pub in Swindon and in September 2014, a team of ex-staff organised a reunion which escalated into a big event when past customers asked if they could come along.

Following its huge success in raising more than £4,000, Emma Cotton, Chris Marsland, Daniel Saward and Mark Anderson, the organisers of the reunion, decided to hold a second event this year.

Emma said: “It’s amazing to have held another incredibly successful event for a second year running.

"Thank you to everyone that came along. Having a reunion like this is the perfect way for people to have fun while raising money for a worthy cause.”

Emma Haines, director of marketing and fundraising at the Rainbow Trust, said: “The Route 66 Reunion is a wonderful evening of entertainment; we want to thank everyone who helped organise the event, attended and donated to Rainbow Trust.

“We have a care team in Swindon which supports families with a seriously ill child across the region and this money will directly help these families receive the vital support we provide.”
