Cadets from the Devizes ATC Squadron successfully took part in the annual Dartmoor Ten Tors Challenge.

The even is a challenge for teams of six young people to complete a course of 35, 45 or 55 miles, visiting ten check points on ten tors on Dartmoor, which took place over the weekend of May 9-10.

Two teams were entered from Dorset and Wiltshire Wing ATC, a 35-mile team and 45-mile team.

Devizes provided five of the six-man team for the 35 and two for the 45-mile teams.

The cadets trained every Sunday over the winter and spring.

Each training session saw them increase the distance and also increase the weight each of them carried.

They learned how to navigate and work as a team to cope with the harsh conditions possible on Dartmoor.

The 35-mile team crossed the line a little behind schedule but still as a team of six.

Although the 45-mile team crossed the finish line they did not fully complete the challenge.

They lost two of their team through injury, on advice from medics, which held them up for nearly an hour so they then decided to miss the last checkpoint in order to reach the finish line before the cut-off time.
