WHAT now for the ten Town players whose release was announced yesterday?

For some they will return from their end of season holidays to find themselves in demand, for others it will not be so simple and they may even drift out of the professional game completely.

The big two on yesterday’s list were last season’s top-scorer Andy Williams and number one keeper Wes Foderingham. They should not have a problem being snapped up.

In Foderingham’s case the clubs are circling and once he returns from Marbella he will undoubtedly be joining travelling partner Ben Gladwin into the Championship.

The Advertiser understands that although Reading are the most widely reported of the clubs interested there are plenty of others making their pitch to his representatives.

After a stellar 22-goal season Williams’ stock is high, if not quite at the level of Foderingham’s then not far off. His release from Town is certainly more for financial reasons than ability.

Nigel Clough was interested in taking the 28-year-old striker to Bramall Lane, but with his departure that move died.

It would take a club the size of Sheffield United to afford the experienced frontman’s wages, so a move to one of the relegated sides from the Championship or a club in the higher division is most likely.

Cameron Belford’s future has already been decided. Tyrell’s big brother impressed enough on his return to professional football to earn a move to Conference Premier Wrexham.

Darren Ward is ageing, but he showed in his loan move to Crawley that in the right system he is still more than capable of playing his part. Some clubs in League One and more than that in League Two would think he was worth a punt, wage permitting.

As for the others predictions are less easy. George Barker and Jack Barthram both enjoyed a bit of game-time last season and were heavily linked with moves to Exeter on the last day of the loan window. They should certainly be attracting interest from a few clubs in League Two.

The remaining players will likely end up in non-league.

Matt Jones has had loan spells at Swindon Supermarine and Chippenham Town. With his dad Tom the number two at Hardenhuish Park that would seem a probable destination.

Connor Waldon scored a few goals in his loan spell with Marine and given their shortage in the striker department it would be a logical signing for them.

As for Win A Pro-man Josue Antonio his loan at the Webb’s Wood did not go so well, but his old club Staines Town or another side at the same level may well give him a go.

As for Harry Agombar, who knows? Given his career path it could be anywhere from FC Pune City to Merthyr Town.
