CALNE resident Alan Rogers has launched an appeal for help in locating his cherished vintage cultivators which went missing on Monday (Jun 8) afternoon.

Mr Rogers, of Avebury Close, Calne, unloaded a number of the vintage cultivators out of his van, leaving them on the front of his house, while he helped a neighbour move some chairs.

However, by the time he returned to put them back into the van, around 9pm, they had disappeared.

The 69-year-old takes great care with his cultivators and attends vintage rallies twice a month to demonstrate or display them to fellow rural enthusiasts.

He said: "I am not going to beaten, I will keep going to rallies. I went out there and I thought 'hang on'. I thought one of my neighbours had put them in garage to look after.

"I spend a couple of hours a week on them cleaning things up as and when they are required to be shown. I have put a lot of effort into keeping them in good condition and I need them back. I would love to get them back."

Mr Rogers believes the items, two Wolseley Merry Tiller Majors with a F. Wright plough and a Dozer blade, may have been taken by someone believing them to be rubbish as the following day the bins were due to be collected.

Wiltshire Police confirmed they were investigating the incident and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

A neighbour of Mr Rogers reportedly saw a man in his 30s with thinning dark hair and average build pushing a machine down Wansdyke Drive around 6.30pm.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area are asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
