THOUSANDS of pounds were raised for Prospect Hospice on Saturday night as hundreds of people turned out for the annual Starlight Walk.

Fundraisers pulled on their best neon and walked through the night over 10km or 15km to raise money for the Wroughton charity.

Among those taking part were four sisters – Kim Goldfinch, Sadie Corbridge, Sam Corbridge and Natasha Benwell – who completed the moonlit trek in memory of a fifth sister, Kelly Hambidge, who died at the hospice.

They raised about £1,800 as they completed the 15km route in less than three hours.

“A lot of it came from work, close family and friends. That was the same for all of us. People around us who knew my sister gave a little bit more,” said Kim, a 35-year-old nurse of Sywell Road, Swindon.

She said she was touched by the warmth of the people she met along the way, as walkers shared stories of why they were raising money.

The route began and ended at Croft Leisure Centre, taking in Broome Manor Golf Club, Lawn, Prospect Hospice, Ridgeway School, Wichelstowe and the Town Gardens.
