STUDENTS at Devizes School got the chance to met snowboarder Jamie Barrow last week as part of an Olympic Day at the school.

The 22-year-old, who is Britain’s fastest snowboarder, came to the school last Thursday as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport project and joined in with activities along with giving a presentation to KS3 students.

As part of the day year seven and nine students had the opportunity to take part in wheelchair basketball, volleyball, trampolining, archery or boxing.

There was also an additional session for the AGAT PE students and primary schools were invited to bring their gifted & talented students.

PE teacher and DSSN Coordinator, Heather Bissell, said: “The Olympic Day is a chance for young people to celebrate the Olympics by experiencing the values of excellence, friendship and respect.

“Jamie gave out a powerful message of determination, inspiring students to take on challenges and try things they haven’t done before.

“It was fantastic to see the students interact with each other, trying out new sports and sharing the Olympic values.”
