POLICE are warning motorists to be careful along the A36 after a number of flat tyres were caused due to faults with manhole covers.
Five vehicles suffered a total of seven punctures earlier today between Malmpit Hill and Fisherton de la Mere, caused after the edge of a metal cover on the road was left pointing in the air.
Sergeant Sean Brady said: “We’re warning motorists to be aware of the road surface they are travelling on after a number of punctures earlier today.
“We think the cover may have come up because it was loosened in the heavy rain and has been brought up by a lorry which has gone over it.
“Motorists should be vigilant and give themselves enough stopping time to avoid a potentially dangerous situation.”
