TROWBRIDGE Arts Youth Company at Larkrise SEN School has received a financial boost after being awarded a donation of £800 from the Tesco Community Awards.

The donation will help fund the new youth theatre, which provides interactive experiences for children, and ensure the continuation of another youth theatre based at Trowbridge Town Hall.

Trowbridge Arts, based at the town hall, has been working since 2012 to bring professional performances, visual art exhibitions and workshops for all ages to the town.

Director of Trowbridge Arts Tracy Sullivan said: “We are passionate about all of our community having access to the very best quality, inspiring and creative experiences. We are thrilled to be able to run a Youth Theatre at Larkrise lead by professional actress Phoebe Kemp.

“With the support of Tesco, this funding will ensure the group can run throughout next year and will include members seeing a professional performance each term.

“Youth Theatre allows young people to create their own performances, stories and movements as well as exploring their feelings and emotions.

“We will also be able to train a new youth theatre leader and provide opportunities for both of our Youth Companies to work together.”

Richard Bayliffe, store manager at the Tesco Trowbridge Extra store, said: “We’re committed to giving back to local communities and our Community Awards give us a brilliant opportunity to support local good causes.

“I am delighted that we are Trowbridge Arts, it is a fantastic organisation doing brilliant work in Trowbridge and I’m delighted we are able to help them in this way.”

The Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards provides one-off donations of between £500 and £2,500 to registered charities and not for profit organisations. For more information see www.tescoplc.com/tescocharitytrust.
