CHIPPENHAM Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was damaged by what is believed to be a form of airgun.

The victim was visiting an elderly relative on Barken Road when the rear windscreen of his car was damaged with two impact points believed to be from two air pellets ound inside the vehicle.

Nobody was hurt but this is the second incident in the area involving criminal damaged caused by an air rifle.

Police were called at 7am on August 17 and have confirmed that it is highly likely that the damage in both cases was caused by the same person with the same airgun.

PC Rachel Webb said: “We are appealing for anyone who knows any information to come forward. Wiltshire Police are taking this very seriously and we are keen to identify the person(s) involved.”
