POLICE are warning of the dangers of new drug 2CB after two men from Chippenham were hospitalised over the weekend.

Two Chippenham men, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of supplying a class A drug.

Callum Rusher, 23, is appearing at Chippenham Magistrates Court this morning (September 3) charged with being concerned in the making of an offer to supply class A drugs.

A 21-year-old man from Chippenham was arrested on Sunday (August 30) and has been released on bail.

Wiltshire Police were called to a house in Chippenham at 6.30pm on Saturday (August 29) following a report from South West Ambulance Service of a 21-year-old man having taken what was believed to be an illegal drug.

Once at the scene, officers also discovered a second man, 18, nearby with similar symptoms. It was believed he had taken the same drug.

The drug, available in pill or powder form, is called 2CB or Gurner and is believed to be a mixture of LSD and ecstasy.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Bath’s Royal United Hospital. The 21-year-old has since been discharged while the 18-year-old remains in hospital but his condition is thought to be improving.

Inspector Ben Huggins from Wiltshire Police said: "I would appeal to members of the public not to under-estimate the dangers that taking drugs of any nature can have.

“Thankfully incidents of this nature are rare, however when substances are taken the effects are unknown and sadly we are seeing the result of what appears to have been mis-adventure which could have had devastating consequences.

"I would appeal to members of the public to stop and think before placing themselves into a potentially dangerous situation like this.

"In addition I would encourage anyone with any information, in relation to this or any illegal drug activity, to come forward.”

Anyone with information on any illegal drug activity can call Wiltshire Police on 101 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
