MUSICAL theatre lover Carole Berry had her moment in the spotlight when she was part of a team to take on TV's The Chaser and win.

Grandmother Mrs Berry, 65, who is artistic director of Devizes theatre group First Stages, appeared on ITV's The Chase presented by Bradley Walsh and came away with a third share of £20,000.

She now plans to spend part of the money on taking children from her theatre school to a London show.

Mrs Berry said: "It was exciting but extremely nerve wracking. Bradley Walsh was lovely and we had good fun but when I was waiting to do my bit I was very scared."

Under the show's format she was put in a team with three strangers and they took it in turns to answer questions.

Mrs Berry was the last to go against The Chaser and had to watch as the person before here was eliminated. But she said: "I thought my mind would go blank but I was lucky with my questions."

She and the other two remaining members of her group then went up against chaser Paul Sinha again as a team. Mrs Berry said: "You don't know which chaser you will get but I wanted him."

The show was filmed back in May and Mrs Berry had to keep the result secret from all but her closest family until last Tuesday when it was aired.

She is no newcomer to TV quizes having appeared on everything from Family Fortunes to the Weakest Link.
