THE sky in Pewsey will be sprinkled with colour tomorrow when St Francis pupils launch 100 kites in memory of youngster Jack Rowe.

The event at the school from 3pm is to highlight and show support to the The Jack Rabbit Foundation set up by his parents Olivia and Nigel.

Jack, who was a nursery pupil at the school, tragically died on his third birthday last July after downing in the family’s swimming pool at their home in Upavon.

His family want the foundation, named after the nickname his sister Ella gave him, to help raise awareness of a programme called Infant Swimming Resource, which teaches children under six life-saving swimming techniques.

They also would like to be able to fund the training of people who could teach the programme and help those who are less able to afford the lessons.

The logo of the foundation, designed by Year 8 St Francis pupil Bijou Angus, was chosen by the Rowe family from many wonderful logos designed by pupils as part of a design competition during the last academic year.

Headmaster David Sibson said: “The children are very much looking forward to flying their kites to highlight the work of The Jack Rabbit Foundation.

“As a school we hope that our support of the foundation will encourage St Francis parents and also the wider community to support this worthwhile cause and help the Rowe family in their endeavours to highlight the dangers of swimming pools and to save the lives of very young children.”
