THE Neeld Community and Arts Centre will be officially re-opened tonight by Great British Bake Off’s Mel Giedroyc.

Doors open for the launch on the Borough Parade side of the centre at 5.45pm with the Great British Bake Off star expected on stage at 6pm.

Mrs Giedroyc will then be helping cut the showstopper cake, in the shape of the Neeld, and handing out slices to visitors.

She will also help launch and mentor a new community project being put on for young people with learning difficulties.

Chippenham Town Council has spent more than £680,000 on transforming the Neeld Hall into a theatre and arts venue and community space.

An initial show programme for the new centre has been released by the town council and will see a Johnny Cash Roadshow on October 16 and Strictly Balti from the Travelling Light Theatre Company on October 17.

On November 26, Bristol comedian Jody Kamali will performing at the Neeld while improvised musical Showstoppers The Musical will take centre stage on February 12, 2016.

The grand opening for the new centre will be in February, 2016.
