CHRISTMAS jumpers, twinkling tinsel and hand-painted cards were just a selection of creative crafts available at a festive charity fair this weekend.

The Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis, based in Westmead Drive, held its second annual Christmas craft fayre complete with a selection of handmade paintings, baby clothes, cakes and glittering treats on offer.

More than 100 shoppers gathered to show their support for the charity at the all-day event which was also attended by Swindon MPs Robert Buckland and Justin Tomlinson.

Sonya Dykes-Brown, manager at the Bradbury House centre, dressed as Mrs Christmas in a festive red and green number. She said the day was a sparkling success.

“It was absolutely amazing and it felt so Christmassy, it definitely brought the festive spirit into the town”, she said.

“It really felt like Christmas had begun as soon as we stepped into the centre and everyone had a great time.”

Even Father Christmas took a pre-Christmas pit-stop at the centre to show his appreciation for the charity.

Sonya said the crafty trinkets went down a storm with Christmas bargain hunters.

“The handmade jewellery and Christmas cards were really popular and it was nice to see so many people in Christmas jumpers and enjoying themselves

“A lot of hard work went into the event and it showed in the day itself with families having a great time.

“We’re hoping to raise at least £200 and I think we can get there as everyone in the community has pulled together to make this happen.”

All funds will enable the charity to continue delivering its vital services.
